25 Stalls in Palmerah Demolished

As many as 25 stalls along Jalan Anggrek Rosliana II and Jalan Anggrek Rosliana III, Palmerah Sub-District, West Jakarta, were demolished by the ranks of local sub-district Satpol PP, Tuesday (8/5). Those stalls were used by the street vendors to sell food, drinks, and fruits.

“We had demolished the stalls in both locations many times before, but the street vendors kept building new ones. That’s why we demolished 25 stalls again today. We’ll continuously do this until a week ahead,” stated Head of Palmerah Sub-District, Agus Triyono.

According to Triyono, 60 Satpol PP personnel were deployed in the demolition. The operation ran smooth with no resistance from the street vendors, because they had been informed about this operation before the fasting month of Ramadan. In the near future, Satpol PP will also hold the same operation on Jalan KS Tubun, Palmerah Utara, and in Slipi area.

Street Vendors’ Stalls on Jalan Bendungan Melayu Demolished

Meanwhile, Cengkareng Satpol PP also demolished 20 stalls on Jalan Bangun Nusa, Cengkareng Timur Urban Village.

Misran (47), owner to a food stall, looked resign seeing his stall being demolished to the ground.

“I was just returned from homecoming in Tegal four days ago. Indeed, the urban village party had sent a warning letter before Ramadan for us to demolish our stalls. But since it was fasting month then Eid ul Fitr and we went homecoming, we didn’t have time to do it. That’s why our stalls were forcibly demolished by the officers,” he uttered sadly.
